About

The Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC) at The Massachusetts General Hospital is dedicated to advancing human health through fundamental scientific investigations into the mechanisms of cardiovascular disease and related metabolic disorders. Founded in 1990 by Dr. Mark Fishman, the center occupies over 30,000 sq. ft. of laboratory space.

Our longstanding tradition of pioneering research breakthroughs has led to new treatments for patients with heart disease and related disorders such as diabetes and obesity.  Our physicians and physician-scientists examine patients to identify cardiovascular disease in its earliest stages; we then work together to suppress each patient’s disease, halt its progression and reverse it. Our findings can also help prevent the patient’s children from developing heart disease.

Established in 1811, The Massachusetts General Hospital has long been a leader in successfully bridging cutting edge science with state-of-the-art clinical medicine. Over the past several decades, MGH trainees have played a leading role in biomedical science. In this tradition, the Cardiovascular Research Center is committed to recruiting, training, and mentoring the next generation of international leaders in cardiovascular science and medicine.

This site of the CVRC is located at 185 Cambridge Street in the Charles River Plaza, 1 block south of the main entrance to the Massachusetts General Hospital.
