Post-doctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Saumya Das, Director of Resynchronization and Advanced Cardiac Therapeutics Program at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. We seek highly motivated candidates for cutting-edge translational research combining novel technologies in exosomes/extracellular vesicles with patient-derived research to understand the mechanisms of heart failure and arrhythmias. The lab seeks to discover new markers and therapies for patients with cardiovascular and cardiometabolic diseases.
The research program of the DAS lab mainly focuses on investigating the molecular cargo in extracellular vesicles (EVs) and their role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases. The research is fast-paced and high impact with recent publications in prominent journals such as New England Journal of Medicine, Cell, Circulation, and Circulation Research. The lab receives extensive support from NIH and AHA SFRN grants. Successful completion of these cutting-edge projects using several state-of-the-art technologies in the lab will facilitate the discovery of novel biomarkers for at-risk cardiovascular diseases patients and the development of novel therapies against heart failure.
Position for research fellow:
PhD, MD/PhD with prior experience in biomedical sciences or related disciplines in required. A track record of research productivity, as evidenced by first-authored original publications in a peer-reviewed journal would be given preference. Previous training and experiences in the following research areas are required: 1) Molecular biology (PCR, Western blotting); 2) Cell culture experience. Some experience of mechanistic studies of heart failure, cardiac hypertrophy, cardiac fibrosis, and arrhythmia, profiling and study of extracellular vesicles and experience with RNAs would be preferred. Lots of opportunities to apply for fellowships are available. Alumni of the lab have had great success in academia and industry.
Candidates should send a Curriculum Vitae, a personal statement of relevant background and future plans, and three references (include names/contact information) to Dr. Saumya Das at SDAS@MGH.HARVARD.EDU or apply here online. If you are applying online make sure you upload one file (pdf, doc, docx).
